The Cleveland chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, DSA, hosted a fundraising concert on the twentieth of June in support of the CWRU 11, a group of pro-Palestine organizations who earlier this year, were accused of committing felony vandalism on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.
The concert was held at the Happy Dog, and featured local bands such as Attaxia, Calico, Lowspot, and Private Prisons. The atmosphere was lively, with high engagement from a crowd that was clearly politically charged. Dozens of people wore symbols of Palestine resistance–from keffiyehs, to pins and t-shirts. One DSA member who was involved in organizing the fundraiser spoke of the political significance of hosting such an event. "DSA is part of the larger Cleveland coalition, Cleveland Palestine Action Committee (CPAC), and with access to a large membership body, DSA was hoping to use their base to raise awareness on this local issue." Over $1,000 were raised in donations that night.
The raised funds were directed towards a LaunchGood campaign that the student group, CWRU Students for Justice in Palestine (CWRU SJP), set up following the influx of legal fees imposed on the CWRU 11. One member of the student group spoke at the fundraiser concert:

CWRU SJP and Cleveland DSA have a history of organizing together. Both key organizing bodies of the 2024 Hind Oval encampment on CWRU campus, these groups have worked tirelessly to advance the cause of Palestinian liberation. Events such as the fundraising concert are likely to increase solidarity across the Cleveland community, and bring us all one step closer to a free Palestine.
